Project Goal
Webster Bank is an American commercial bank based in Stamford, Connecticut. It has 177 branches and 316 ATMs located in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Westchester County, New York.
Webster provides fast and easy banking with better checking and savings, smarter financing, and more ways to help you build your nest egg.
The main goal of the project was to redesign the financial interface and make an overall facelift to their site (+ future planning to leverage the new design into an app).
My Contribution
I was originally brought to this project as an UI designer, to be a part of the design team. After the first phase I also entered into the UX layer and in the end the whole team worked holistically on both.
Main Challenges
Working with financial entities - especially of this magnitude - always requires very precise and sensitive work with the client. There is not always a willingness to make changes and there is a constant concern these might harm the brand reputation and undermine the confidence of the people who work with the bank.
It required closer dialogue and constant monitoring / follow ups, and a need for a little less agile work than usual.
In addition, working with a bank required all staff to do homework and learn the field, the nuances and the language accepted in these content worlds.
